I am in the process of buying a ‘sailaway’ narrowboat, which I intend to fit out myself. I am undecided whether to use gas or diesel for the heating/hot water system. Can you advise and make recommendations?

Fitting out narrowboats with heating and hot water systems is something which I regularly undertake. Each boat is very much an individual, and the requirements of the prospective owner can vary quite considerably. I do not involve myself with diesel systems and specialise exclusively in Alde based gas/electric heating and hot water.

My personal view is, based on 20 years experience, that the Alde system with all its variations, and particularly using the latest 3010 high efficiency boiler, is much superior to any diesel system. For further advice on your particular requirements, please do not hesitate to contact me for advice or to arrange a survey and estimate, which can lead to a full installation service if required.
